VIT D HIT

UK & Irish mushrooms are enriched with the sunshine vitamin, Vitamin D. Something quite magical happens when mushrooms are exposed to UV light. A photochemical reaction occurs, which converts the provitamin into Vitamin D, which is key to maintaining a healthy immune system and helps towards healthy bones and teeth.

The UK & Ireland Mushroom Producers’ Vitamin D mushrooms are available in a variety of supermarkets nationwide and are suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Keep an eye out in store for ‘Vitamin D’ highlighted labels on packs of locally grown mushrooms – and find out just how magical mushrooms really are!

VIT D HIT AT HOME

We get most of our Vit D from sunlight, which is why our intake fluctuates throughout the year. Wintertime is when our levels are at their lowest, given the absence of sunlight and the longer, darker evenings. But we have the solution! By putting your mushrooms in the sunshine for as little as 15 minutes you’ll get your daily Vit D hit, as the sunlight enriches the mushrooms with all the vitamin D goodness. Mushrooms really are the gift that keeps on giving!
